Welcome to the Fall 2017 term!

This Fall is an elections term for the Engineering Society! That means we all need to elect some new Executives.

First up is the Presidential Election. Nominations for presidential candidates open on Monday, September 11th at 8:30 am and close on Friday, September 15th at 12:30 pm. Get your nominations in!

Campaigning starts on Sunday, September 17th at 8:00 pm and will run to the 27th of September. Expect there to be plenty of opportunities to ask your candidates questions, and to get some free food!

If you’re a Class of 2022 student and are completely lost, not to worry! The candidates will be visiting your classes during the campaigning period to talk about their platforms and explain the elections process.

After campaigning, voting opens on Friday, September 29th. You will get an email to vote for your preferred candidate(s) using the FEDs online voting system.

Finally, we’ll find out who our new President is on Wednesday, October 4th during the Engineering Society Council Meeting in RCH 307! The results will then also be posted to the Engineering Society website.

This whole process repeats for the Vice Presidential positions and WEEF Director.

Nominations open Monday,October 23rd at 8:30 am and close Friday, October 27th at 12:30 pm. Campaigning starts on Sunday, October 29th at 8:00 pm, and ends Wednesday, November 8th. Considering running for President?

There will be an online information session and Q&A with current president, Rachel Malevich, on Wednesday, August 30th at 6 pm. Please email cro.b@engsoc.uwaterloo.ca to be included in this session.

Once nomination forms have been submitted, there is a mandatory orientation for Presidential Candidates on Friday, September 15th from 5 – 6 pm in the Orifice Board Room. This meeting covers the timeline and rules for the campaign. All candidates or a designate of the candidate must be present or you risk disqualification from the race. If you will be sending a designate, email their name to me ahead of time, and ensure you meet with them to pass on any information.

Reminder that in order to run for president, you must have paid your EngSoc fees, be in at least your 2A term, have at least earned a 65% average in your previous academic term, and be on term for the next two academic terms (Spring 2018, and Winter 2019). Candidate pairs are not eligible to run for President.

We look forward to working with you all in the Fall term. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re always happy to help!
