Call for Nominations (President)

Hello and welcome back to another amazing Fall term at the University of Waterloo!

My name is Sameer and I’ll be your Chief Returning Officer (CRO) this term for the A-Society’s Executive Election. What is a CRO you say? Well, according to the Governing Documents, the CRO is an officer elected to oversee the election. The CRO sets the nomination, campaigning, and voting periods for each candidate and their respective elections, and ensures that the election is run fairly and abides by the standards outlined in the Documents. Personally, I’m very excited to be your CRO and look forward to ensuring that this election runs smoothly as possible!

With that out of the way, I’d like to formally open up the nomination period for candidates interested in running for the position of President. For more information on the position, you can read the Governing Documents, read a post by our current president Adelle Vickery regarding the role and various responsibilities of the President, or simply contact myself or Adelle (president.a@engsoc.uwaterloo.ca).

The nomination period lasts September 8th – 14th. Nomination forms can be picked up in the Orifice or online. A minimum of 15 signatures from on-term students are required for nomination. Completed nomination forms MUST be submitted no later than 12PM (NOON) on September 14th to the Orifice. Late submissions will not be accepted, with exceptions made for extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Following the end of the nomination period, there will be an All Candidates Meeting for those who have submitted nominations for the Presidential race. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 6PM in the Orifice Boardroom. Rules of the election, campaigning period, and voting periods will be laid out at this time.

A full list of all candidates who have submitted completed nomination forms and meet the eligibility requirements will be posted online and outside the Orifice on Thursday, September 15th.

If you have any questions regarding the elections this term, I can be reached via email (cro.a@engsoc.uwaterloo.ca), Facebook/Messenger (http://facebook.com/rageandqq), and in person in the Orifice (CPH 1327) every Wednesday and Friday from 3-4PM.

Thank you, and here’s to a great election season!
