What’s going on this term?

A Dungeons and Dragons game between university friends played throughout their four years at Waterloo. The tabletop portion with the IRL people will be played by IRL actors in Waterloo and the in-game portion will be done through animation with voice actors performing remotely. The animation will not be fluid, and will have a new frame only for character line changes, major emotion changes, and major action movement (in an animatic style, see here for reference). The IRL portion will be filmed and intercut with the animation/voice over portion. The final product will be released in a streaming watch party, then posted on youtube.

Who Do We Need?

Live Actors:

You will take on one of the characters playing a DnD game. You’ll act and rehearse in person with 4 other castmates, and your performance will be recorded and played live virtually for an audience. You must be in Waterloo for this role.

Voice Actors:

You will take on the voice of one of the animated characters within the DnD game. Rehearsals will be run over video/phone call. You’ll record your lines and send them to the crew to be played over the animation. You can be ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD for this role.

Animators:

You will be in charge of animating one aspect of the DnD game — either one character, a handful of NPC’s, or backgrounds. Each character will be animated by a separate animator in their own style, Into-the-Spiderverse-style.

Tech Crew:

You will have the choice to: edit videos, artistically compile individual animated characters into scenes together, combine voice recording with animation, manage live streaming, and making the whole piece come together.
